Alison Fahie

Hi there, my name is Alison (she/her) and I am thrilled to be a Counselling Intern at Couch of Hope!

During my undergrad at St. Francis Xavier University, I majored in Sociology with a minor in Psychology which gave me the opportunity to develop the skill of questioning the social structures and how they impact us all on an individual level. Now, I’m completing a Masters in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University and gaining valuable knowledge and a deeper understanding of how to support clients with whatever they’re experiencing.

While working with people professionally one-on-one through my previous experiences in HR, employment support, and teaching, I witnessed how supportive and important a safe, non-judgmental space can be in fostering our growth. These experiences ultimately led me to pursue a career in therapeutic counselling where I can offer support to clients who are ready for a change.

My therapeutic areas of interest include but are not limited to stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, spirituality, and self-image. I aim to work with clients through a holistic lens, a deep curiosity in the mind-body connection, and a CBT, client-centered, and mindfulness-based theoretical approach.

My intention as a future Counselling Therapist is not to have all the answers but rather to create a space to promote the self-exploration of my client’s needs. I want my future clients to know that they are the experts and creators of their own lives and I am here to support them in this creative process.

Looking forward to working with you!
