Brenda Beauchamp

Hello, my name is Brenda (she/her). I grew up in Dartmouth Nova Scotia and am excited to be able to come back to Dartmouth as an intern at Couch of Hope. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology and child and youth studies from Mount Saint Vincent University and am completing my master’s in counselling psychology through Yorkville University as an intern at Couch of Hope.

I have worked with children and families for the past eighteen years as an Early Childhood educator and daycare owner in Halifax. Counselling psychology was a natural progression in my career path of helping others.

I have always had a keen interest in mental health and am a firm believer that talk therapy can help individuals, couples, and families to identify sources of distress that are impacting their wellbeing and relationships with self and others. Improving communication skills, coping strategies, and providing support and validation through a collaborative therapeutic relationship are just a few examples of why I enjoy this field.

Using a Cognitive Behaviour approach (CBT), my areas on interest are grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, individual, couples, family therapy and LGBTQ+.

I look forward to working together with you.
