Danielle Comeau

Hello, my name is Danielle (she/her). I am currently doing my internship to complete my Masters of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I grew up in rural nova scotia and now live in Halifax with my partner and child.

I have always had an interest in mental health and, in particular, how our social environment can impact health. I did my undergraduate degree at Kings and Dalhousie in Sociology, and the Sociology of health was my primary interest. My undergraduate research looked at online support networks for people in recovery from drug use. Because of this, I decided to pursue graduate training in mental health and counselling.

I love working with youth, families, and couples. Becoming a mother has deepened my empathy and understanding for people in parental roles, as it can be a difficult and often isolating time. My other therapeutic interests include lgbtq+ support, anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, pregnancy, and birth.

My purpose as a psychotherapist is to support people as they process pervasive troubles in their lives so they can move forward empowered with hope and clarity.
