David Reid

Hello, my name is Dave. I grew up in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and I am thrilled to be part of the team at Couch of Hope. While I spent many years as a jazz pianist and composer, my journey in the field of counselling began with an undergraduate degree in Addictions Counselling. Currently, I'm completing my Master's in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

I've had the privilege of working with diverse groups of people during my career, which has been incredibly enriching. From counselling young adults at a wilderness treatment program in Alberta to helping individuals at a mindfulness treatment center in Palm Springs, California, I've seen firsthand how therapy can transform people’s lives.

I truly believe in the power of talk therapy to create positive change in your life. I'm a strong advocate for the idea that therapy can help address the stress affecting your well-being and relationships. Witnessing the transformation that can happen when people develop new ways of being in the world and experience the support and validation they deserve is why I truly value this work.

My approach to counselling is a blend of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-based techniques. I'm dedicated to working collaboratively with you, to listen and understand your unique journey, and I believe that together we can find a path to healing that resonates with your individual needs.

If you're seeking a safe, compassionate, and supportive space to explore your challenges and grow, I'm here to walk this journey with you.

Looking forward to getting to know you.
