Joelle Martineau

Hello, my name is Joelle (she/her) and I am delighted to be joining the team at Couch of Hope as a Counselling Therapist Intern. I completed my undergrad in Psychology at the University of British-Columbia Okanagan, and I am currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University.

These last few years have left many people feeling more alone than ever, and have been especially tough on those struggling with their mental health. This collective experience has put a spotlight on the importance of valuing one’s mental health and was a driving factor in my decision to pursue a career in psychotherapy. I wanted to work in a field where I could empower, support, and help individuals going through difficult times in their lives.

Through my role as an intern, I hope to help individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, and relational concerns, as well as anyone feeling overwhelmed and going through significant changes in their lives. We will come together to find an approach that works best for your needs while taking into consideration your goals and what you want from your experience. I believe that each client’s journey is unique, and I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space to explore your concerns and work toward healing and growth.

When life gets overwhelming or one feels their mental health declining, it is so easy to feel hopeless, but I am here to remind you that you are not alone with what you may be going through and that it will get better.

I look forward to working with you and hearing your story!
