Kendra Dawe

My name is Kendra (she/her) and I am grateful to be part of the wonderful team at Couch of Hope as I embark on my journey toward becoming a Registered Counselling Therapist. While I am originally from Newfoundland, I have called Nova Scotia home for most of my life.

I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. Through my previous educational pursuits, I hold a Bachelor of Science (Recreation) from Dalhousie University and the designation of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.

Over the last five years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages and abilities in reaching their recreation and leisure goals from a person-centred approach. While working directly with clients, my propensity to want to learn more about mental health and gain the skills to support individuals through a talk therapy approach ultimately led me to pursue a career in Counselling Psychology.

My intention as a Counselling Intern is to provide clients with meaningful healing opportunities rooted in compassion and acceptance. I am committed to supporting clients in their healing journey through a person-centred and trauma-informed lens. I seek to foster a safe and supportive environment that facilitates a strong therapeutic alliance where clients can expect to feel seen and heard each step of the way.
