Kylee Smith

Welcome! My name is Kylee Smith (she/her), and I am thankful to partake in Couch of Hope’s approach to accessible services as a Counselling Therapist intern. I obtained a Bachelor of Science, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Health Studies, through Dalhousie University. I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

As a recreational therapist volunteer, I have experience working with adults who face mental illness and need a recreational outlet while they are being assessed and stabilized in the hospital. I am familiar with the necessary resources to enhance individual health, functional abilities, independence and quality of life, through activities like painting, music and sports. The beauty of recreational activities further fosters self-concept, social attitude and problem-solving skills is something I would love to incorporate into my services when appropriate.

My therapeutic areas of interest include but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-image, and stress. Through a holistic lens, I prefer to draw interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based theoretical approaches but am very flexible to find what best works for my clients.

My goal is to offer a safe space that draws on empathy and unconditional positive regard for those who are seeking counselling services. Building on a foundation of trust and respect, I hope that I can make my clients feel secure and validated as we collaboratively work toward their goals.

I look forward to working with you!
