Michele MacDonald

Hi there, and welcome. It’s great to meet you. Beginning counselling is a frightening yet courageous step, and I am here to help you navigate the journey.

I am Michele (she/her), a counselling therapist intern who is grateful and excited to complete a placement with the Couch of Hope team. I was born and raised in Halifax and obtained a BA degree in psychology from Saint Mary’s University. I am currently completing a MA degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

Navigating life circumstances post-pandemic is challenging and overwhelming, and our mental health slowly suffers while we sacrifice our well-being to make ends meet. We often feel helpless and hopeless, and uncertain about where to begin our path to wellness or what it even looks like. By providing a safe and supportive environment, I hope you feel open and comfortable exploring and expressing yourself freely and without judgement while being heard and validated as we work together to develop the necessary tools and skills to uncover your unique path to wellness.

My approach to therapy is humanistic, person-centred, and collaborative; you are the expert on your life’s story, and I am here to listen honourably, attending to thoughts, feelings, and body sensations that surface from moment to moment, as well as offering ways to help you overcome obstacles that may be holding you back from becoming your genuine self. I am enthusiastic about working alongside and supporting our inspiring and exceptional community members on their individual journeys to wholeness and wellness.

I look forward to meeting you.
