Hi! My name is Samantha (she/her), and I am currently completing my Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I am so excited to join the Couch of H.O.P.E team as a Counselling Intern. Before studying at Yorkville University, I majored in Psychology at Saint Mary’s University and obtained my Bachelor of Social Work Degree through Dalhousie University.
I have experience working with children involved in our complicated systems through places of safety, facilitating life skills programs, including anger management, and volunteering with adults who experience complex and debilitating mental illnesses.
My goal is to provide unconditional support to those who may feel a lack thereof. Through conversation and non-judgmental active listening, we will work collaboratively to help improve overall well-being, find acceptance, areas of growth, and healthy ways of coping with life. Using a trauma-informed approach, I pride myself on being transparent and creating a safe, welcoming, empathetic space where individuals can feel comfortable opening up.
