Hello! My name is Grace (She/ her) and I am super excited to be working as a Counselling Intern at Couch of HOPE! My interest in counselling began during my time at St. Francis Xavier University while taking a joint major in Political Science and Psychology. From there, my interest in mental health and education led me to pursue my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
Growing up in a small town with limited access to mental health resources, I have seen first-hand how this can impact a community. My goal throughout my internship and beyond is to create an environment for people to explore various mental health resources that will fit in with their everyday lifestyle, all while creating a safe and inviting space for individuals to explore their own strengths through difficult times. Each person’s story is different, and my goal is to learn more about you in order to assist you through your mental health journey.
While I am drawn to various approaches such as Person-Centered Therapy and Strength-Based Therapy, I aim to adjust these approaches based on your individual needs. My areas of interest include but are not limited to, stress, anxiety, burnout, depression, and self-image.
Beginning counselling can be a daunting task, especially for those that have never experienced mental health resources. I will be here to support you in any way that I can, and I congratulate you in taking the first step.
I look forward to working with you!
