Hannah Sutherland-Dempsey
Hi there and welcome to my page!
My name is Hannah (she/her), and I am a counselling therapist intern. I am very excited to be doing my practicum placement here at Couch of Hope. I have lived around Nova Scotia for most of my life. I obtained my BA in criminology with a minor in psychology from Saint Mary’s University. I am now completing my MA degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients. I will work collaboratively with you to tailor the therapeutic approach to fit your unique narrative. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I am here to listen and provide guidance where I can.
My therapeutic areas of interest include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, self-image, and burnout. I draw interventions from person-centred, solution-focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches but am flexible in finding what works best for my clients.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with friends, playing board games, going paddle boarding, and travelling whenever I can!
