Hello and welcome! I’m Heather MacDonald, a counselling intern currently completing my MEd. Counselling at Acadia University. My pronouns are she/her/hers. During our time together I seek to provide a safe, nurturing space where you can explore your experiences, and find healing and new directions.
Taking a decolonizing, depathologizing, and trauma-informed perspective, I seek to honour each person's diverse cultural backgrounds, identities, and experiences. My work is determined by your needs and goals, drawing from Narrative, Attachment, and Somatic approaches, ACT, CBT, and more. This will ensure that our work together is holistic and respectful of your unique journey.
You are the expert on your own life. My role is to accompany you as you discover strengths, learn new strategies, and develop a sense of clarity and balance.
While I am particularly interested in working with neurodivergent people, I welcome anyone struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, identity, and the impacts of oppression and trauma. I am here to guide and support you and together, we will create a therapeutic experience that respects and honors your story.
It would be a privilege to work with you and help you achieve your goals.
