Welcome! My name is Kerry (she/her) and I look forward to supporting Couch of H.O.P.E. clients as a Counselling Intern completing my master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, following my own extensive wellness journey. With over 22 years as a Canadian Armed Forces Naval Reservist, encountering far too many peers facing complex mental health concerns ultimately inspired and compelled me to be there for others in a professional role.
With a background in behavioural science, certification in holistic nutrition, and considerable meditation and breathwork experience, I am particularly interested in stress and trauma, and the mind-body connection. Being adaptable and flexible to find an approach that resonates with you is most important, but I am drawn to cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), polyvagal theory, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT).
I find joy from my 13-year-old son, fitness, time in nature, playing piano, wonderful friends, and volunteering with Halifax Search and Rescue. I am privileged to learn more about you, to listen with warmth and understanding, and to empower you to navigate your challenges with greater strength and hope.
