Hi everyone! My name is Sheryl and I am currently doing my Master’s in Counselling and Psychology at Yorkville University. I am very excited for this practicum experience!
I graduated from Saint Mary's University with a Bachelor of Science, Honours Psychology. I have a passion for mental health advocacy, particularly for children and teens, and I’m dedicated to helping young people navigate challenges and build resilience. I was born in India and have lived in Halifax with my family since the age of three, so I have been shaped by the influence of both Indian and Canadian cultures. Having this background has given me a deep understanding of cultural differences, and I hope to create a culturally sensitive and inclusive space for people of all backgrounds.
I have spent the last four years as the Youth Director at Faith City Church, and have loved developing strong connections with teenagers and fostering a supportive environment. This role has been a key influence in my drive to pursue a career in counseling. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process between the client and therapist, and I see my role as supporting and empowering you. I am eager to learn and gain practical experience in thefield, and aim to create an environment where you feel safe and heard. I would love to work together and be a part of your journey!
