Miranda Purcell

My name is Miranda Purcell (she/her) and I am currently completing my Counselling Therapist Internship with Couch of Hope as part of my practicum in the Masters of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. I have been passionate about mental health initiatives since I was a high school student where I chaired the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) committee during my senior year. This committee focused on providing education to students about the importance of identifying coping strategies to avoid maladaptive/destructive behaviour patterns and using self-care techniques to improve the quality of your mental health. This passion drove me to complete my BSc in Psychology at Dalhousie University and begin my pursuit of becoming a mental health professional here in Nova Scotia.

I believe that each client deserves a therapeutic experience that is tailored to meet their unique needs, my style of therapy draws influence from Person-Centred Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Becoming a counselling therapist is a mission close to my heart, I want to help bridge the gap for the growing need of mental health professionals in the province. I am very passionate about working with individuals who have substance use issues, relationship difficulties, and those facing challenges with school.

When I work with clients my goal is to provide support and encourage you to achieve your goals, let's work together to explore solutions that are right for you!
