Jennifer Welcher

Jennifer (She/Her/Elle) brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her role as a Counselling Therapist, backed by over 11 years of dedicated experience in the field and a strong foundation built upon 27 years within the education system. Holding multiple Master's degrees in Education (Educational Psychology, Literacy, and Counselling), along with her designations as a Canadian Certified Supervisor (CCS) and Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT), Jennifer offers a deeply informed and multifaceted approach to supporting her clients.

Currently expanding her expertise through a graduate certificate in Addictions Counselling at Wilfrid Laurier University, Jennifer is committed to ongoing growth and providing the most comprehensive care. Her dedication extends beyond her practice, as evidenced by her 3+ years of volunteer experience as a supervisor with Couch of Hope.

A passionate advocate for professional development and ethical practice, Jennifer serves as a Clinical Supervisor for university interns and candidates with both the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapy and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She holds a particular interest and specialization in the Supervision of Supervision and navigating "complex clinical supervision" scenarios.

By day, Jennifer works as an Elementary School Counsellor, further highlighting her commitment to fostering well-being across diverse age groups. Her training includes a Certificate in Treatment & Recognition of PTSD from McGill University and Brown College of Mental Health, and she is trained in Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Depression and Anxiety.

Jennifer is deeply committed to providing inclusive and affirming care, with specific experience working with 2SLGBTQ2IA+ communities. She also focuses on supporting 'frontline' responders within the Canadian Military, veterans, Canadian Government, and the RCMP, understanding the unique challenges they face. Her extensive work with Employee Assistance Programs, coupled with her approval as a Workman’s Compensation Board Provider and a Non-Insured Health Benefit’s Program Provider (NIHB) with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, demonstrates her ability to navigate a wide range of support systems.

Jennifer's diverse background and ongoing commitment to learning ensure a supportive and effective therapeutic experience. She is dedicated to empowering individuals to navigate their challenges and achieve their well-being goals
