Jessica Heidebrecht

Hi guys! My name is Jessica Heidebrecht, and I am a private practice social worker with clinical training who has been in the field for the past 12 years. I have worked in many settings including shelters, halfway houses, urgent care/crisis lines, community mental health and addictions, a wellness court, a Driving While Impaired (DWI) program, and specialized clinics for clients with borderline personality disorder and Canadian Forces, Veterans, and RCMP members. I now am sole proprietor of a private practice.

I received my Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and Bachelor of Social Work degree from Dalhousie University, then received a Master of Social Work (Healthcare) from the University of Waterloo.

The best way to describe my work is evidence-based (meaning I am trained in treatments that have been researched and work), holistic (meaning I emphasize physical, emotional, and spiritual health to achieve mental health), and structured (meaning I make a treatment plan and often assign homework). My competencies mostly lie in treating trauma/PTSD, BPD, addictions, couples, and anxiety/depression.

It has been and continues to be a privilege to hear people’s stories, and an honor to witness their resilience and recovery, as I work through a strength-based lens. I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients, while simultaneously providing a supportive therapeutic relationship.

Ongoing professional development is very important to me, and in my spare time I enjoy reading, travelling, Crossfit, and spending time with my husband and dog.
