Starr Lawlor

Hi there, I’m Starr (she/her) and I am so excited to be a Counselling Therapist Intern at Couch of Hope!

I am currently completing my Masters of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I completed my undergraduate degree at Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Health Studies. I currently work at a women’s shelter that supports women who are experiencing mental health concerns, homelessness, and those who are navigating the criminal justice system. This experience has further taught me the value of having a non-judgmental, safe, and supportive space.

With my role as an intern, I plan to help individuals experiencing various mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, as well as any life stressors and/or changes. My primary approaches are through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), however, we will work collaboratively to find an approach that best suits your needs and goals.

I am committed to supporting you through a non-judgmental and empathic approach while offering you a safe and supportive space.

I look forward to working with you!
